993jemm1388203045485313754 Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, has emphasized the significance of digital practice in boosting the productive capacity of the youths in Ikorodu LG.
Adesina underscored the importance at the graduation ceremony of 100 youths, trained free on a computer application technology program that spanned two weeks at the council secretariat.
The graduation ceremony dated 1st of September 2023, brought stakeholders, APC leaders, council staff and members of the legislative arm of the administration to the council hall, giving prominence to the greatness of the Tech-Age and how youths can erect their profitable ability with a smartphone. According to the chairman in his remarks, He believes that equipping the youths with essential IT skills will not only enhance their employability but also empower them to contribute meaningfully to society. Adesina explains, "Readying the youths with valuable digital training programs of this kind, will unlock portals to opportunities and empower them for a brighter future". "From animations to cartoon designs, graphic designs, website designs, sound productions and other creative niche, this program we've organised is an eye opener to the youths not to waste time gallivanting around with their smartphones".
"I am excited that we've provided them with the opportunity to create employment for themselves, without looking for employment elsewhere," Adesina told Ikorodu News Network (INN).
The chairman also hailed Speed Up Lagos for collaborating with the council to propel the program.
Akinlabi Yusuf, a representative from the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), also in attendance, urged the beneficiaries not to take the skills acquired for granted. Asserting that the council chairman should be applauded for his leadership technique, Mr Yusuf said the program will grant beneficiaries the opportunity to access numerous start-up business capital loans from the Lagos State Government.
He pleaded with the graduating youths to stay focused on expanding their craft and monetize their niche for a proper upgrade, adding that the government is ready to support creative youths across the state.
Oseni Fatia Ayomikun, one of the beneficiaries of the free digital program told Ikorodu News Network (INN) that the initiative is a welcome idea to transform the lives of youths in Ikorodu LG. Detailing skills she acquired during the training (for two weeks), Miss Fatia explained that learning how to save costs is one aspect of the program that has been beneficial to her.
"Before now, I couldn't create any kind of graphic design, so when I go to the printer shop, I'll have to pay for everything, but now I can make any kind of design I want, this will in turn save me the cost of paying for the design to be done before printing". "I told most of my friends that we must continue to improve on the free skillset we've acquired here because more practice makes perfect" Fatia added. She further extended her gratitude to the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina and Speed Up Nigeria coordinators for touching the lives of youths via the digital undertaking.
Leaders, Stakeholders and residents at the event praised the administration of Wasiu Adesina for investing in the potential of the youth with the tech-driven initiative to nurture their prospects.
