Newly sworn-in Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development; Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert and the Special Adviser on Rural Development; Dr. Nurudeen Yekini Lanre Agbaje have restated their zeal to ensure that the dividend of democracy is extended to all the nooks and crannies of the State in line with the THEMES plus Agenda of Mr. Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert, the immediate past Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Local Government and Community Affairs disclosed this on the 18th of September 2023 at the Conference Room of the Ministry during their maiden meeting with the Management Staff.

According to him, “Mr Governor has directed us to hit the ground running to ensure that every part of the State is habitable, primarily as we concentrate efforts towards making Lagos a 21st Century Economy”.

He further noted that the Ministry is saddled with the responsibilities of initiating, formulating, executing, monitoring, and evaluating policies relating to Local Government Administration in all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.

“Other responsibilities include; Chieftaincy Affairs including relations with the Council of Obas and Chiefs, Community Development”, he added.

Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development; Dr. Nurudeen Yekini Lanre Agbaje explained that reviving the Office of Rural Development back to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Rural Development is an arrow to the fact that Mr. Governor is so very interested in the development of the grassroot communities across the state.

Dr. Agbaje used the medium to call on Community Leaders, Community Development Associations and other stakeholders to key into programs of the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu geared towards the fulfillment of the collective aspiration of Lagosians who are economically viable communities across the State.

Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, in her early welcome address, conveyed her eagerness and the unwavering support of all the members of staff in the Ministry for the Commissioner and the Special Adviser in attaining all their numerous tasks and setting goals in line with the mandate of the Ministry, for the successful undertaking of the THEMES plus agenda to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The Christ Compassion Crusade's preparations have been nothing short of remarkable. The dedicated team behind the event has already secured a significant quantity of essential supplies, including one thousand bags of Garri, 30 thousand bags of soaps, 24 thousand printed exercise books, 10 thousand buckets, 10 thousand bags of salt, 10 thousand bags of sugar, and two solid generators, one of which is a 350kVA powerhouse. In addition to these tangible resources, Pastor Matthew emphasized the importance of collaboration and spiritual guidance. The crusade team has convened with 320 pastors on the ground to ensure the event's effectiveness, highlighting the spirit of unity and purpose.
