The Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS) marked the beginning of the 2023 Eweye Day Celebration with a press conference, unveiling the theme, “Power Of Togetherness And Love; A Better Way To Meaningful Growth And Development.”
The gathering was graced by numerous dignitaries, including HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiu, and several prominent community leaders.
On behalf of ISEDASS chairman, Otunba Folagbade Musa Banwo, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Dr Haruna Oladunni Balogun warmly welcomed distinguished guests, such as the Baales of Isiu town, Egbe Elero, Egbe Eleja, Egbe Alata, LNSC, Joint Task Force (JTF), Isiu Youth Development Movement (IYDM), and many others in attendance.
In his speech, Dr. Haruna Oladunni conveyed gratitude to the traditional dome, HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji, for his careful selection of leaders who are driving the growth and development of the Isiu community.
He also acknowledged the founding fathers of the Isiu Eweye Day, recognizing their pioneering efforts that set an example for other communities in the Ikorodu Division.
Dr. Haruna paid tribute to late Mr. Ranti Oludehinde, also known as Oriwu, for his remarkable leadership during his tenure as the chairman of Isiu Youth Development Movement (IYDM).
His contributions to resolving communal conflicts and unifying the youth were lauded for ensuring the safety of all residents.
The Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS) commended Prince Tunde Awolesi, Alhaji Musa Sulaimon, Prince Kunle Ogunbela Comrade Amos Oladunni, Comrade Wasiu Raji, and other esteemed leaders for their contributions to the sustainability of Eweye Day.
Dr. Haruna Oladunni emphasized the need for unity and love in the development of Isiu town. He stated, “We are more than conquerors, the healing period has begun. Let us join hands with our Royal Majesty for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Isiu. Togetherness and love will surely give us a soft landing.”
The chairman of the planning committee also revealed that the 2023 Eweye Day Celebration includes a fundraising goal of 500 million for an ultra-modern palace, further solidifying the commitment to the town’s development.
HRM. Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiu Kingdom, in his remarks, urged all indigenes of Isiu to return and contribute to the town’s growth and development.
He highlighted the importance of unity and love in achieving progress and mentioned the success of Isiu Modern Market and the primary health center, along with the upcoming ultra-modern Isiu Palace project.
Oba Olukayode extended appreciation to Senator Adetokunbo Abiru for donations toward a transformer and the health center, as well as Rep. Babajimi Benson MHR, for his efforts to bring a market to Isiu town, hinting that the market might be commissioned during the grand finale of Isiu Eweye Day.
Mr. Taiwo Odumbo, the PRO of the Isiu Eweye Development Association and Chairman of the Education Committee, outlined the dates for the educational programs scheduled for November 22nd and 23rd, with a Youth Summit on December 13th, providing a platform for young people to discuss town-related issues.
Mr. Segun Alimi, the Secretary of Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS), detailed the event schedule, which includes sports competitions, educational programs, environmental sanitation, free medical services, and a day dedicated to artisans and market vendors.
The grand finale of the Isiu Eweye Day celebrations will take place on December 16th.
The press conference was attended by HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji, OTUNBA Sheriff Tijani, High Chief Adeleke Oladeinde, Chief Richard Ogunbanwo, Hon. Asiwaju Wale Ogunbela, Hon. Alhaji Wasiu Sowemimo, Hon. Jumoke Hassan, Chief Ajani Alajo, and Prince Tijani Akeem Ola, among other dignitaries.
According to ISEDASS, the Isiu Eweye Day 2023 promises to be a celebration of unity, love, and meaningful growth and development, highlighting the town’s progress and its bright future.
