In a landmark move, the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, has pledged to revolutionize education in the region by introducing information and communication technology (ICT) in all 16 primary schools under the jurisdiction of Ikorodu LG.
During an exclusive meeting with the Heads of Primary Schools in Ikorodu LG, Hon. Adesina stressed the urgency of incorporating ICT into the curriculum, aiming to expose pupils to global technological advancements from an early age.
As part of this commitment, he announced the establishment of computer units in each of the 16 primary schools.
In a bid to enhance security measures, the chairman also promised to employ night guards across all primary schools, ensuring the protection of school properties beyond regular hours.
Concurrently, Hon. Adesina has initiated the construction of perimeter fencing at Jumaitu Islamiyyah Primary School, Ikorodu, as a proactive measure to bolster the safety of pupils, teachers, and school assets.
Expressing concern over the current learning conditions, Hon. Adesina was disheartened by reports of pupils sitting on the floor.
In response, he pledged to provide additional school benches and tables to all 16 primary schools, aiming to create a more conducive learning environment.
Acknowledging Hon. Adesina’s compassion, swiftness, and magnanimity, the head teachers of the public primary schools, along with the heads of vocational and home economics centres, lauded his commitment to advancing education in Ikorodu LG.
The meeting, which took place in the chairman’s office on Wednesday, emphasized the positive impact these initiatives will have on the development of education within the local government area.
