In a jubilant gathering at the Ikorodu local government secretariat, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the executive chairman, warmly welcomed 32 students and 12 teachers who emerged victorious in the inaugural ACADEMIC SHARPMIND program.
The event, held on December 5, 2023, aimed to recognize and foster the academic excellence of the brightest minds in the community.
Addressing the attendees, Adesina emphasized the program’s commitment to identifying and nurturing exceptional talents, providing a platform for students to further pursue their academic aspirations. He commended the teachers for their dedication to imparting knowledge, asserting that their efforts contribute to molding future community leaders.
Alhaji Lateef Afinni, the SLG of Ikorodu local government, joined in congratulating the participating pupils, encouraging them to use the ACADEMIC SHARPMIND program as inspiration to continually enhance their academic performance.
Councillor Hon. Buraimoh Oluwakemi, representing ward F, lauded the students for their outstanding achievements, expressing optimism that a focused commitment to their studies would undoubtedly lead to brighter futures.
Looking ahead, Hon. Wasiu Adesina announced the upcoming grand finale scheduled for December 12, 2023, where the top three students will be rewarded with prestigious prizes. He urged the winners to view the ACADEMIC SHARPMIND program as a benchmark for future academic success.
“Consider this program as a yardstick for you to shine in other academic endeavors,” Adesina affirmed, emphasizing the enduring impact of nurturing and celebrating academic excellence in the community.
The council manager, Engr. Martin Odupitan, Mrs Lawal, head of Information department, Hon. Mutiat Fatuga, other councilors and council staffs were also in attendance.
