Celebrating the Christmas season, the Local Government Education Authority Ikorodu (LGEA) hosted a spectacular Christmas carol event titled “Carol Of Nine Lessons” on December 6, 2023.
The program, held at the Teachers House in Ikorodu, brought together students, teachers, pastors, and dignitaries in a joyous commemoration of the birth of Jesus.
Graced by notable figures such as Hon. Afolabi Amusa, Education Secretary, Rev. Ibikunle Sunday, Mr Fakayode Olufemi Oluwaseun JP (NUT Chairman), and Mrs Mojisola, HOS Blind Association, featured a series of captivating performances and heartfelt moments.
Rev. Ibikunle Sunday set the tone for the evening with an opening prayer, invoking blessings for the success of the program.
Setting the atmosphere for a joyous gathering, Mrs. Olaiya O. and Mrs. Oyeniyi R. presented the first carol, “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” welcoming members of N. U. T, students, head teachers, dignitaries, and other personalities.
Mrs. Oregbade Rebecca, Chairman of the Planning Committee, expressed her excitement about the massive turnout and thanked Education Secretary Mr. Afolabi Amusa for his unwavering support.
Despite challenges, she praised her committee for their dedication, urging the LGEA Ikorodu to continue investing efforts in future Christmas carol events.
Education Secretary Mr Afolabi Amusa emphasized that the Christmas carol is not only a celebration of Jesus’ birth but also an opportunity to unite people, highlighting the need for inclusivity during both Muslim and Christian festivals.
Acknowledging the success of the 4th edition of LGEA Ikorodu Christmas Carol, Mr Amusa encouraged staff to emulate Jesus’ humility and respect, concluding with a hymnal song.
He also highlighted the achievements of his administration in 2023, including a special centre for disabilities, school reconstruction, and a medical centre on school premises.
