Residents of Ikorodu West LCDA are celebrating as the first phase of the long-awaited Ori-Okuta road construction project is set to commence into the next 12 weeks.

Federal Legislator Rep. Babajimi Benson MHR, confirmed the official start of the project during an inspection on December 9, 2023.

Rep. Benson, who actively participated in the inspection by digging sand to mark the commencement, urged community dwellers to cooperate with the project, emphasizing its benefits for the entire community.

He assured that the road would not only enhance connectivity but also come complete with street lights, elevating the overall quality of living in the region.

Mayor Dean Sanwo-Ola, a special aide to Rep. Benson, highlighted the legislator’s commitment to fulfilling promises made earlier in the year. He encouraged residents to actively play a role in ensuring the success and sustainability of the project.

Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, accompanied Rep. Benson to the community and urged residents to support leaders who are dedicated to positive change.

Dr Agbaje emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in achieving societal progress.

He further called on the Community Development Association (CDA) to maintain open communication with the Lagos state government for support regarding the project’s progress.

Dr Agbaje commended Rep. Benson’s continuous efforts in meeting the needs of Ikorodu federal constituency, referring to him as indeed the ‘Julius Berger’ of Ikorodu.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Ikorodu West LCDA Chairman Hon. Sulaimon Olarewaju, represented by Vice Chairman Hon. Adesegun Aluko, Chief Imam Sheikh Mushafau Kosoko, Alhaji Lawal Animashaun (De-Cubano), Hon Gabriel Olusesan Dada, Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, and other special guests.
