In a recent announcement, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the executive chairman of Ikorodu local government, revealed the local government’s initiative to rehabilitate the Otambala/Odugate road in Ikorodu.
Speaking at a Stakeholders consultative meeting on Monday, December 11, 2023, Adesina highlighted the importance of reviving the deteriorated road.
The chairman acknowledged that the road had been surfaced during the tenure of his predecessor, Hon. Matthew Awolesi, but had since fallen into disrepair.
Adesina, who served under Awolesi’s administration, expressed his commitment to restoring the road for the benefit of the community.
Initially planning to rehabilitate Otambala road, Adesina shared that the community’s plea led to the inclusion of the Odugate road in the project.
He stated, “Odugate/Otambala road is at the heart of Ikorodu, and it gives me joy to embark on this project because our aim is to bring development to Ikorodu central.”
Highlighting the significance of the project, Adesina emphasized that putting the road in shape was crucial for enhancing economic activities and fostering growth and development in the area.
The rehabilitated road would facilitate easy access to Obale and Ajina Market and serve as a vital link passage to Ita-Elewa, Aga junction, Ireshe street, and various other central streets and roads.
Calling for the cooperation of residents, Adesina urged them to support the timely completion of the project and emphasized the importance of tax payments, particularly from working dwellers.
He stated that his vision is aligned with scaling up economic activities, ultimately contributing to the overall development of Ikorodu.
Reacting to the chairman’s announcement, excited dwellers told Ikorodu News Network (INN) that the project execution will mark a significant step towards infrastructure improvement in Ikorodu, with the local government prioritizing the rehabilitation of key roads to benefit the community’s residents and businesses.
