In a heartwarming initiative, Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club executed a benevolent welfare project at Temidire Primary School, providing essential supplies and toys to pupils as the yuletide season approaches.
On the 11th of December 2023, the club, led by Lion Tokunbo Adefola, 1st Vice President, distributed rice, tin tomatoes, toys, and more to the younger pupils, particularly those in Primary one and Nursery classes.
Lion Tokunbo, extending a warm welcome to all present, emphasized the significance of the “Feed the Hungry” project as a response to the economic downturn affecting the community.
“We are able to give Nursery and Primary 1 pupils raw foods and toys to give them a little joy,” Lion Tokunbo expressed during the event.
Mr. Mabunmi Oluwasegun, representing the Local Government Educational Authority (LGEA), conveyed gratitude to Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club for their generous provision of food and toys.
He acknowledged the positive impact of such projects during challenging economic periods and urged the Lions Club to extend their charitable efforts to other schools.
“We are asking for more, and they should also go to other primary schools so that they can also feel the impact,” Mr. Mabumi appealed.
Mrs. Oregbade R. A, the Headteacher of Temidire Primary School, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the consistent support from the Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club.
She emphasized the club’s unwavering commitment to Temidire School, a sentiment echoed by both teachers and parents.
“A word can’t express my love for Ikorodu Pioneer Lions Club for not always forgetting this school; it’s a joy in my heart,” Mrs. Oregbade remarked.
The headteacher further urged other NGOs to focus on the education sector, underscoring the vital role such interventions play in supporting schools and communities.
In response, pupils of Temidire Primary School (the club’s adopted school) collectively expressed their gratitude to Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club, saying, “We pupils of Temidire Primary School appreciate you all for your kind gestures to us, Ma/Sir.”
The event left an indelible mark on the hearts of the pupils, reinforcing the positive impact of community initiatives during challenging times.
Past presidents of the club, Lion Adeola Rotinwa and Lion Adebukola Adefolayiga was also present at the project execution.
