Exemplifying the festive spirit, Ikorodu Local Government transformed its secretariat into a hub of joy and celebration on December 12th, 2023, as it hosted its annual Christmas party.
Orchestrated by Mrs Abolanle Adesina, the esteemed wife of the Executive Chairman, the event was a heartwarming amalgamation of love, dance, and generous gift-sharing.
This grand gathering successfully united students from all 16 public schools within the local government, alongside stakeholders, teachers, and parents, fostering an atmosphere of sheer merriment and camaraderie.
Mrs Abolanle Adesina, a driving force behind the event, underscored its significance as a well-deserved respite for students following a year of academic rigour.
“We want to appreciate everyone who has stood by this administration, and this program is another way we’re saying thank you,” declared Mrs Adesina, underscoring the council’s unwavering commitment to supporting educational endeavours across the region.
A highlight of the event was the culmination of the ‘SHARPMIND ACADEMIC’ competition, where intellectual prowess took centre stage.
Winners of this spirited contest were honoured with special gifts by the gracious Mrs Abolanle Adesina.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, expressed profound gratitude for the resounding success of the event and outlined the council’s ambitious 2024 focus on education.
“Though we want you to have a nice time and give yourself a break from your studies, the ultimate goal is for you to always focus on your studies and become a better future leader,” Chairman Adesina advised the students, encapsulating the essence of the council’s dedication to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.
The festive spirit soared to new heights with a special dance session featuring the chairman and his wife, infusing the gathering with contagious joy.
This was followed by the ceremonial cutting of the local government Christmas party cake, a symbolic act that heralded the culmination of the joyous occasion.
Father Christmas made a memorable appearance, distributing gifts to every child present, further enriching the festive atmosphere.
In a testament to the impact of the event, teachers in attendance lauded the chairman’s tireless efforts, expressing excitement about the council’s steadfast commitment to uplifting education in the region.
The celebration was blended at intervals with rhymes from the yellow outfit WADESH Babes, whose songs of praise resonated throughout the venue, captivating both the council boss and his wife.
