Ikorodu, December 14, 2023, – The Ikorodu Local Government recently conducted its Budget Consultative Session, a crucial platform where stakeholders and residents gathered to review and endorse financial plans for the upcoming year, 2024.
The session which took place at the council Secretariat hall, aimed to analyze proposed expenditures and gather input from the community on areas of improvement.
Mr Kazeem Adesanya, the Head of the Budget, welcomed dignitaries, leaders, councillors, baales, and representatives, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve positive outcomes.
He highlighted the need to align the budget with community needs and urged residents to contribute by sharing their expectations.
During the session, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the executive chairman of Ikorodu local government, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their presence and stressed the significance of the stakeholders’ role in the budgeting process.
He outlined the 2023 budget’s accomplishments, including the construction of classrooms and bridge reconstruction.
Hon. Adesina assured the community that their input would be considered for impactful projects in 2024.
Leader of the House, Hon. Adebowale Ajayi, representing the Legislative Arm, pledged to collaborate with the Executive to ensure a successful outcome in 2024.
He encouraged the community to expect their requirements to be addressed.
Stakeholders actively participated, with Alhaji Babatunde Rotinwa, former Lagos state Head of commission chairman, advocating for the reconstruction of Sabo market, citing the need to address road sellers’ challenges.
Commissioner Lanre Balogun urged residents to voice their needs, emphasizing the importance of utilizing the opportunity.
Addressing security concerns, Alhaji Owoikorodu emphasized the budget as a roadmap and called for increased focus on security.
Alhaji Musiliu Animashaun advocated for the reconstruction of specific streets, emphasizing their importance for community development.
Hon. Wasiu Adesina assured residents that areas contributing to council revenue would be prioritised, promising borehole installations and road constructions in Ward A.
He acknowledged the support of public figures like Hon. Babajimi Benson and S. A Nurudeen Agbaje for ongoing and planned infrastructure projects.
The event was attended by prominent figures including Hon. Lanre Balogun, Alhaji Musa, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, Alhaji Owoikorodu, and other community leaders.
Their presence underscored the collective commitment to shaping a budget that reflects the needs and aspirations of the Ikorodu community.
