Residents across Imota LCDA were filled with joy and excitement as Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, Tajudeen Abass officially commissioned an 80-bed hospital in Imota, Ikorodu, underscoring the dedicated efforts of Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson in making the project a reality.

The momentous ceremony, held on January 2, 2023, marked a huge transformation in the health sector of the region with Dr. Ademuyi Aniayewu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, and Hon. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs in attendance.

Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, a stalwart of the Ikorodu Federal House of Representatives, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Speaker Tajudeen Abass, highlighting promises made for the betterment of Ikorodu.

He also extended appreciation to Hon. Mrs Adejoke Orelope Adefulire for her pivotal role in obtaining approval for the hospital.

HRM, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota, reflected on the long-standing need for a hospital in Imota dating back to 1979.

He praised Rep. Babajimi Benson for facilitating the construction, putting an end to a 42-year wait and relieving Imota residents from the necessity of travelling to distant hospitals.

Dr Ademuyi Aniayewu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, congratulated Hon. Mrs Adejoke Orelope Adefulire for her diligence and clarified that the hospital is a standard facility, not an annex.

He assured the immediate commencement of full-scale operations post-commission.

Hon. Mrs Adejoke Orelope Adefulire extended warm welcomes to all dignitaries, emphasizing that the project aligns with the SDGs agenda for sustainable development nationwide.

She thanked leaders like His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, and Hon. Tajudeen Abass for their support.

Speaker Tajudeen Abass highlighted the prominence of the health sector in the 2024 budget, signed by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He assured Nigerians of basic and affordable healthcare services, commending Rep. Babajimi Benson for his remarkable contributions to the Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The commissioning program was anchored by Bldr Sesan Daini and officially opened by Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass, marking a pivotal moment for Imota, reinforcing the commitment to improving healthcare services.

Notable attendees included HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM, Oba Aremu Shotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo, HRM, Oba Olukayode Raji the Eweye of Isiu, Oba Moruf Ahmed Olalekan, the Alagura of Agura, and HRM, Oba Adeoriyomi Abdul-akeem Oyebo, the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom.

Alhaji Tijani, Hon. Waheed Animashaun, Mr. Taiwo Orenuga, Akinyemi, Hon. Gbenga Oshin, Hon. Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, CDC, C.A.N Muslim society, and other prominent figures from the community, reflecting a unified effort towards a healthier and more resilient Imota society.
