Dated Monday 15th January 2024, the Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba, delivered a compelling speech as she presented the Year 2024 Appropriation Bill/Budget to the legislative house.

The ceremony, held at the Legislative Chamber, marked a significant step towards charting the course for the local government’s economic growth and development.

Hon. Alogba commenced her speech by expressing gratitude to the Almighty for guiding the local government through the challenges of the past year, where notable successes were achieved in budget performance.

She emphasized the importance of looking inward to internally generated revenue to complement federal allocation, striving for a higher success rate in the current fiscal year.

The theme for this year’s budget, “A Budget Of A Renewed Hope For Sustainable Economic Growth And Development,” signals a strategic shift towards economic prosperity.

Hon. Alogba underscored the need for creating a conducive atmosphere to realize the dream of a better and economically viable local government.

Last year’s focus on Education and Youth Development yielded satisfactory results, prompting a broader scope in 2024 towards Economic Growth And Development.

The Executive Chairman assured the community that careful consideration was given to all priority areas, ensuring the prosperity and well-being of the people.

“I am seeking the continued support of this legislative house and encouraging the harmonious relationship we have now to persist”.

Together, we can achieve a greater Ijede Local Council Development Area,” stated Hon. Alogba, emphasizing the importance of collaboration.

In a plea to residents, she urged prompt payment of rates and bills to sustain the local government’s ability to provide essential services, highlighting the importance of residents’ contribution to democracy dividends.

A 2024 appropriation budget of 1,966,661,620.42 was presented to the legislative arm by the council boss.

The proposed estimate reflects the local government’s commitment to financial transparency and a strategic approach to economic sustainability.

Following protocol, the legislative house affirmed to subsequently review and deliberate on the budget before its final approval, ensuring alignment with the aspirations outlined by the Executive Chairman.
