On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Ikorodu division Obas took a significant step towards conflict resolution as they visited Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the chairman of Ikorodu local government, for a peaceful discussion.

The meeting unfolded against the backdrop of ongoing disputes surrounding the Iya-Oloja General of Ikorodu division and the Iya-Oloja of Ikorodu Central.

Hon. Wasiu Adesina, in an interview with Ikorodu News Network (INN) after the discussion, described the royal visit as cordial and honouring, emphasizing that the deliberation marked a positive stride in the right direction.

“The meeting was held to find a peaceful way forward over the controversial issue concerning the Iya-Oloja General of Ikorodu and the Iya-Oloja of Ikorodu Central,” Adesina recounted.

Expressing optimism, Adesina stated, “I explained my position to the kings, and from all intents and purposes, we’re still in discussion, which would end fruitfully.”

He commended the royal fathers for their commitment, stating, “They told me they’ve held what I had to say and would return for further progressions over the issue, which I must commend our royal fathers for, because personally, I am ready for settlement.”

Hon. Wasiu Adesina extended his gratitude to the Ranodu of Imota, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Aremu Shotonwa, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, Oba Adeoriyomi Abdul-akeem Oyebo, extolling their fatherly roles in peacefully presiding over the crisis to restore peace.

In the same light, he also appreciated Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, and the Eweye of Isiu, Oba Olukayode Raji, asserting that the community anticipates a resolution that will pave the way for lasting peace and unity in Ikorodu division.
