AYANGBURE OF IKORODU STRENGTHENS SECURITY TIES: HOSTS COMMANDING OFFICERS, 174 BATTALION NIGERIAN ARMY ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

31st January 2024 – Ayangbure Palace, Ikorodu

Demonstrating unity and a shared commitment to fortifying security measures, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, and the Ayangbure-in-Council played host to the 174 Battalion and the Commander of the 9th Brigade Nigerian Army at the Ayangbure Palace in Ikorodu on the 31st of January 2024.

The primary objective of the gathering was to cultivate a more secure environment across the waterbed region in Lagos State.

The event brought together distinguished military personnel, including Brigadier General A. M Adetuyi, the Commanding Officer of the 174 Battalion, Abdul Rahman, Commanding Officer O. Ijaoma, Major A. Owuneme, Lieutenant S.U Mawmai, and Second Lieutenant K.A Akiode.

In his address to the assembly, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi emphasized the pivotal role of a robust relationship between the Nigerian Army and Ikorodu.

He expressed gratitude for the enduring collaboration with the 174 Battalion and Brigade General, highlighting the deep-rooted bond between Ikorodu and the military unit.

The monarch actively sought solutions from the Nigerian Army to address prevailing challenges faced by the community.

Responding to the monarch’s concerns, Brig Gen A. M Adetuyi expressed sincere appreciation for the warm reception and conveyed the Nigerian Army’s steadfast commitment to securing lives and properties in the region.

He pledged ongoing cooperation with other security agencies, underscoring their collective efforts to foster lasting peace.

Commanding Officer Abdul Rahman echoed similar sentiments, assuring active support for other security agencies and aligning with Brig Gen Adetuyi’s unwavering dedication to ensuring a secure environment for the community.

The chairman of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mr. Rotimi Erogbogbo expressed heartfelt commendation for the 174 Battalion and commanding officers, acknowledging their swift response to palace requests and dedication to enhancing security measures.

Mr. Erogbogbo also extended gratitude for their recognition of existing community security outfits in the region.

He applauded the creation of channels for cooperation with local security agencies, emphasizing that in Ikorodu, unity and collaboration are paramount for the peace and tranquility of the land.

The distinguished gathering also included Mr Akogun Lanre Olabinjo, Commandant of the IDPIL LJTF, Executives and field officers of Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL), as well as Baales, Chiefs, Erelu, Osugbo, and other esteemed figures.

HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi was subsequently honoured by Brigadier General A. M Adetuyi with a unique plaque presentation.

In summary, the event signifies a significant stride towards enhancing collaboration for the security and well-being of Ikorodu communities.

It also underscores the joint commitment of the paramount ruler and the Nigerian Army to creating a safer and more secure environment for all residents.
