Hon. Salau Rukayat Ajibike, Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) in Ikorodu West LCDA collaborates with the Bakery Initiative to unveil the Bakery Initiative Empowerment and Employment Program (BIEEP), targeting women aged 18 to 35.
The inauguration ceremony, held on February 9, 2024, marked the beginning of a two-week baking training program, aiming to empower participants with essential skills and potential employment opportunities.
Distinguished guests, including Chairman, Hon. Sulaiman Olarewaju, H. O. D for WAPA Mrs Mamora, Mrs Omotola, Mrs Bakare, Mrs Abimbola, Mrs Shola Amusu, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, Ikorodu West Council Treasurer, Mr Abaniwonda, and Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA’s Budget Supervisor, Mr Odusanya Omotayo, graced the event, underscoring the strong community backing for the initiative.
Hon. Rukayat Ajibike expressed gratitude to attendees and emphasized that the empowerment initiative was strategically designed to secure a brighter future for the younger generation.
She urged participants to nurture their passion, emphasizing its pivotal role in achieving both personal and professional success.
Mrs. Omotola Akinsaya, the Project Officer for Bakery Initiative, outlined BIEEP’s three main pillars: Training, Employment, and Entrepreneurship.
She highlighted the opportunity for adults to transition to the Entrepreneurship stage, potentially establishing their bakery with the Bakery Initiative’s support.
Additionally, Mrs Omotola assured participants of guaranteed employment post-training, along with a minimum wage.
Mrs. Shola Amusu, H.O.D for WAPA Ikorodu West LCDA, stressed the importance of focus and determination.
“Have passion, be focused, and be determined in what you do,” she urged the participants, emphasizing the potential for success when combining passion and dedication.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Shola Amusu implored all participants to absorb the knowledge offered during the program, highlighting the significance of concentration and application.
She concluded by extending prayers for the success of all participants in their newfound journey towards empowerment and employment.
