Moving to combat the rising issue of drug abuse among the youth, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ikorodu Local Government has embarked on a week-long sensitization campaign targeting public primary schools.

Led by the dynamic coordinator, Idris Omotayo, the initiative aims to raise awareness and educate the youth about the dangers of hard drugs.

From the 12th to the 16th of February, the NYCN Ikorodu LG team successfully reached out to more than 12 public primary schools, spreading their message and engaging with the students.

This grassroots approach is seen as crucial in fostering a drug-free environment within the community.

To culminate this week-long effort, a pivotal event is scheduled for Tuesday, 20th February 2024.

The NYCN Ikorodu LG will conduct a press conference and seminar on drug abuse, involving over 200 pupils, teachers, stakeholders, and representatives from various media houses.

This initiative seeks not only to educate but also to foster collaboration between the community and media in the fight against drug abuse.

The NYCN’s commitment to addressing the issue at its roots showcases the organisation’s dedication to the well-being and future of the youth in Ikorodu.

The upcoming event on Tuesday is anticipated to be a significant step forward in creating awareness and promoting a drug-free culture among the younger generation.
