Alleviating the challenges faced by residents due to rising climate change, Representative Babajimi Benson, Member House of Representatives (MHR) for Ikorodu federal constituency, distributed 2,000 solar-powered household items on February 21, 2024.
The event, held at the constituency office, witnessed the convergence of Ikorodu division residents, leaving many empowered and expressing commendations for Rep. Benson.
The distributed appliances included solar-powered lights, fans, touch lights, charging hubs, and radios, aimed at easing the stress caused by the prevailing hot weather conditions.
Rep. Benson assured his constituents of more government support during this phase, emphasizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to restoring growth and development in Nigeria.
“More welfare packages which have been approved by President Tinubu will be distributed before Ramadan or mid-lent season,” he said.
As the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Rep. Benson outlined plans to enhance national security through the state police bill presented to the House of Representatives.
He conveyed a strong dedication to restoring peace and tranquillity to the nation.
The program garnered support from notable figures, including former Lagos deputy governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, who commended Rep. Benson for consistently uplifting the lives of his constituents.
Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, representing Ikorodu constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, lauded Rep. Benson’s performance and urged residents to remain hopeful for better days.
Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, Director-General of iCare foundation, clarified the program’s intention to support residents, with 40% of the distributed solar gadgets allocated to APC party members and 60% to community dwellers.
Sanwo-Ola emphasized the inclusivity of the initiative, stating that it reaches out to all registered voters, irrespective of party affiliation.
Residents, eager to benefit from the program, shared their optimism with Ikorodu News Network (INN) about Rep. Benson’s effective leadership qualities.
Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, Chairman Ikorodu North CDC, praised Rep. Benson’s consistent efforts, urging constituents to stand by his goodwill and intentions for the region.
The program concluded with prayers from the Chief Imam of Ijede LCDA and Ikorodu North LCDA, wishing Rep. Benson more wisdom in his line of duty.
The distributed appliances reached representatives from Ikorodu Central, Imota LCDA, Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Ikorodu North LCDA, Ijede LCDA, and Ikorodu West LCDA, ensuring a broad and impactful reach across the Ikorodu federal constituency.
