The 37-kilometre Red Line, constructed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), was commissioned on February 29, connecting Agbado in Ogun State to Oyingbo in Lagos Central.

Speaker Obasa praised the project’s economic significance, emphasizing its potential to alleviate traffic issues and contribute to the state’s overall economic growth.

Highlighting the collaborative efforts, the Speaker directed the transmission of commendation letters to President Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and former Governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode.

The assembly affirmed its commitment to monitoring train operations and ensuring the project’s continued success.

Chairman of the Transportation Committee, Hon. Adewale Temitope, acknowledged the assembly’s role in approving budgets for the project, emphasizing the importance of mass transit and intermodal transport systems.

Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. David Setonji, attributed the state’s progress to a stable political environment and commended the governor and Speaker for their dedication to public welfare.

Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu and Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh recognized the assembly’s funding approval and the Speaker’s role in creating LAMATA, respectively.
