“MADE LIKE US” BY EVANS O. GIBSON UNVEILS THE HUMANITY OF JESUS ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

In his latest work, “MADE LIKE US,” author Evans Gibson delves into the profound theological exploration of Jesus Christ’s humanity, drawing on the biblical passage Hebrews 2:14–18. The book tackles the age-old question: How human was Jesus?

Gibson’s narrative aligns with the observations of historian Philip Jenkins, who, in “Jesus Wars,” highlights the tension within early Christianity as some emphasized Christ’s divine nature over his humanity.

However, the book of Hebrews staunchly emphasizes that Jesus was not a mere semblance of humanity but was “fully human in every way” (Heb. 2:17).

Hebrews 2:14–18 elucidates the necessity of Jesus sharing in our humanity. This pivotal aspect of Christ’s identity was not a superficial choice but a vital prerequisite for his role as the ultimate sacrifice and High Priest.

By being fully human, Jesus not only faced temptation but also suffered, making him relatable to the human experience. This shared humanity enabled him not only to die for humanity but to live for humanity as a compassionate and understanding High Priest.

The profound significance of Jesus’ humanity is underscored in verse 15, where it is revealed that through his sacrifice, Jesus can “free those whose all lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.”

Gibson’s “MADE LIKE US” encourages readers to explore the deep theological implications of Jesus being both fully God and fully human.

As believers reflect on the book’s message, they are prompted to contemplate why it was necessary for Jesus, fully God, to become fully human and how this act serves as the cornerstone of redemption.

The prayer resonates with gratitude, acknowledging Jesus as “the radiance of God’s glory” who intimately understands and intercedes for humanity.

“MADE LIKE US” not only deepens the understanding of Jesus’ humanity but also invites readers to praise and reflect on the profound implications of Christ’s dual nature as the one and only God–Man.

Gibson’s work provides a thought-provoking journey into the theological essence of Jesus, leaving readers humbled and overwhelmed by the magnitude of his sacrifice and love.
