Amidst the sacred atmosphere of Ramadan, Ikorodu local government embarked on a benevolent mission, organizing its 8th annual Ramadan lecture and providing essential support to Muslim residents in Ikorodu Central.

Under the theme “Belief in the Doctrines of Allah,” the event drew a multitude of Muslim faithfuls to the local government secretariat on March 28, 2024.

The program not only served as a platform for spiritual enlightenment but also as a means of practical assistance to the community.

With a focus on the significance of observing the Ramadan season, attendees were inspired to deepen their faith and commitment to Islamic teachings.

In addition to the enlightening lectures, the highlight of the event was the distribution of palliative support to 2,000 homes within Ikorodu Central.

According to the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu local government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the gesture of generosity aimed to alleviate the burdens faced by families during the holy month, ensuring that they could observe Ramadan with dignity and comfort.

Honourable Adesina, in his speech, explained the importance of adhering to Islamic teachings, adding that the event served as a platform for spiritual guidance and community support.

Emphasizing the necessity for Muslims to uphold all doctrines of Islam, citing its inherent moral teachings, Adesina highlighted the significance of Ramadan as a pivotal month for purifying the hearts and souls of worshippers, urging adherence to its rituals to eradicate impurities.

Beyond spiritual enlightenment, the program was also geared towards charitable endeavors, aiming to assist the less privileged within the community.

Chairman Adesina reaffirmed the commitment of the local government to this cause, underscoring the systematic approach taken in selecting beneficiaries through collaboration with various community entities.

With a pledge to sustain the palliative effort until the conclusion of his administration, Chairman Adesina announced the 2,000 bags of Rice and Garri provided at the event are meant to extend support to over two thousand homes, ensuring that families in need receive essential assistance throughout Ramadan.

Chairman Adesina revealed his intention to continue sponsoring the Ramadan lecture even beyond his tenure, underscoring his dedication to fostering spiritual growth and community welfare in Ikorodu.

Addressing the gathering, the council boss urged residents to remain patient and supportive of the government led by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to restore growth and development to the nation.

He reassured the community of the local government’s steadfast presence, with seventeen months remaining in the current administration.

Expressing gratitude to political leaders, the legislative arm, council staff, and the residents of Ikorodu, Chairman Adesina acknowledged their unwavering support, affirming the solid foundation laid for future administrations to emulate.

Guest speaker, Imam Shakirudeen Akanni, founder of the Iradat Islamic Society of Nigeria, Ikorodu, delivered a compelling message on the significance of righteous deeds during the holy month of Ramadan.

Emphasizing the obligation of good deeds upon every devout Muslim, Imam Akanni urged individuals, particularly those in positions of authority, to utilize their influence for the betterment of the less privileged in society.

Addressing the political class, he urged them to approach governance with a consciousness of God, cautioning against engaging in slanderous campaigns which run contrary to Islamic principles and may incur divine retribution. He commended Honorable Adeshina for his steadfast commitment to organizing the annual Ramadan Prayers.

Imam Akanni’s lecture underscored the importance of combining faith with action, urging all Muslims to embody the values of compassion and service, especially during the sacred period of Ramadan.Amidst the distribution of Ramadan palliatives to residents of Ikorodu Central, Lanre Balogun extended commendations to Chairman Adesina for his unwavering support to the community. Balogun emphasized the transformative impact such gestures could have if replicated by other local government authorities, suggesting that it could significantly alleviate prevailing hardships.

Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN) amidst the distribution of Ramadan palliatives to residents of Ikorodu Central, Hon. Lanre Balogun extended commendations to Chairman Adesina for his unwavering support to the community.

Balogun emphasized the transformative impact such gestures could have if replicated by other local government authorities, suggesting that it could significantly alleviate prevailing hardships.

Alhaji Samsideen Adewale highlighted Chairman Adesina’s consistent efforts in organizing empowerment programs for the people of Ikorodu Central, expressing optimism for the chairman’s continued growth in capacity to further support the region.

Offering advice to beneficiaries, Alhaji Owokorodu encouraged them to not only focus on the welfare packages provided but to also internalize the teachings of the Ramadan lecture, allowing it to resonate within their hearts as they depart with their provisions.

Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, the APC chairman of Ikorodu LGEA, underscored the significance of fasting as one of the pillars of Islam, emphasizing its relevance to the program.

He lauded Chairman Adesina for consistently prioritizing the welfare of Ikorodu residents.

Vice-Chairman of the council, Aarebirin Hon. (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, highlighted the significance of the 8th edition of the Ramadan lecture, attributing it to Chairman Adesina’s responsiveness to the needs of the Muslim community.

She urged beneficiaries to utilize the program as an opportunity for introspection, encouraging continuous prayers for the nation amidst prevailing hardships.

The event was attended by a multitude of distinguished guests including members of the Iradat Family, the Iya-Oloja of Ikorodu Central, Alhaja Adebukola Oluwakemi Osho, the APC woman leader of Ikorodu Central, Alhaji Rashidat Bello, council Leader Hon. Adebowale Adebola, council Deputy Leader Hon. Mutiat Fatuga, Alhaji Monzor Olowosago, Chief Publisher of Oriwusun Newspaper, Alhaji Ola4, and various members of the Islamic community in Ikorodu Central.

Also present were Alhaji Lateef Afinni, secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Lateef Oyefusi, Hon. Kazeem Sowemimo, Murisiku Safari, and Alhaji M Gafaar.
