Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, visited the Lugbusi community in Ikorodu North LCDA on April 5th, 2024, to assess the situation following recent kidnapping in the area.

Accompanied by officials from the Office of Rural Development, Dr Agbaje was received by Chief Kamlat Adewale, the Baale of Lugbusi and other leaders of the community.

During the meeting, Chief Adewale disclosed to Dr. Agbaje that the kidnappers utilized boats to infiltrate the community from a nearby forest, armed with offensive weapons.

In response to the community’s concerns, Dr. Agbaje listened attentively as they requested support in the form of solar lights to enhance security, a transformer for improved electrification, and a water scheme to enhance residents’ quality of life.

Expressing their appreciation for ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Adamo-Akanun-Agunfoye-Lugbusi road and a recent visit by the police commissioner, the community also extended gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Dr. Agbaje assured the community leaders of his commitment to conveying their requests to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu through the Office of Rural Development, ensuring that positive feedback would be provided.

During the assessment, Dr. Agbaje had brief interactions with Chief Kazeem Arije, the Alashe Liwe of Ikorodu Kingdom, and Mr. Ogunniyi S.T., who oversees the police post in the community.

Accompanying Dr. Agbaje during the inspection was an engineering team led by Engineer Dankuwo from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, highlighting the collaborative effort to address the community’s challenges effectively.

“This visit Underscores the government’s proactive approach to addressing security concerns and enhancing infrastructure development in rural communities, ensuring the well-being and safety of residents across Lagos State” Dr Agbaje said.
