
In a show of solidarity and appreciation, community leaders and stakeholders from the Oladeibi Joint Community Development Associations (CDAs) gathered on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, to commend Ikorodu Federal Lawmaker, Representative Babajimi Benson MHR for his facilitation of a crucial infrastructure project – a 4.3km road construction connecting approximately 50 communities from the Luckyfibre axis down to Oguntade Oloja CDA in Ikorodu North LCDA of Lagos State.
The stakeholders meeting, chaired by prominent figures including Alhaji Idowu Ogunsanya, Baale Oguntade Oloja, and Baale Olukuti Adebayo of Olisado Malalu estate, resonated with praise towards Rep. Benson for the ongoing construction project.
Approximately 6-weeks after flagoff (of the road construction), the meeting displayed the community’s show of unity, in its resolve to see the project through to completion, ensuring lasting benefits for generations to come.
The engagement served as a platform to not only express gratitude but also to provide updates on the project’s status, emphasizing its significance in mitigating issues such as water flooding during the rainy season and improving overall living standards for residents.
Efforts to expedite the project’s progress were also highlighted during the meeting, with stakeholders, including local Baales and property owners, collaborating to remove obstructions along the road’s path.
It also highlighted the transformative impact the road will have on the region, facilitating easier access for residents and enhancing connectivity with neighboring areas such as Ijebu-Ode and Sagamu.
During the meeting, the Joint Community Development Association (CDA) Chairman of Laketu Oladeiibi, Comrade Oladele Mufutau Winjobi expressed appreciation and admiration for Rep. Benson’s unwavering commitment to the community.
He emphasized their devotion to maintaining and conducting periodic checks on the road to ensure its optimal usage and longevity.
Furthermore, Winjobi assured Rep. Benson of the community’s full support, pledging to take ownership of the project upon its completion.
“I pray that God will surely reward him in multiple folds for all that he’s been doing for Ikorodu Division,” Winjobi remarked, reflecting the collective sentiment of the community towards Rep. Benson’s exemplary leadership.
“Despite being only six weeks into the project, the community has already witnessed tremendous development, prompting congratulatory messages from near and far” Winjobi explained.
Alhaji Idowu Ogunsanya, Baale Oguntade Oloja, lauded the ongoing road construction project for its potential to enhance regional connectivity and socioeconomic development.
Speaking on behalf of Oguntade Oloja community to Ikorodu News Network (INN), the chief emphasized the strategic significance of the road in facilitating smoother transportation for individuals traveling from Ijebu-Ode and connecting seamlessly to Sagamu road.
He explained the project’s role in improving accessibility and reducing travel time for residents and commuters alike.
Subsequently, Baale Olukuti Adebayo echoed Ogunsanya’s sentiments, describing the construction project as laudable and worthy of commendation.
Adebayo particularly applauded the establishment of a feedback channel initiated by Representative Babajimi Benson, through Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, the Director-General of the iCare Foundation.
This communication mechanism, Adebayo emphasized, fosters transparency and community engagement, ensuring that residents’ voices are heard and their concerns addressed throughout the project’s duration.
Hon. Oyefusi Lateef, a distinguished member of the community and Super for Budget and Revenue in Ikorodu Local Government, expressed optimism regarding the progress of the ongoing road construction project.
Hon. Oyefusi, known also as a prince in the community, commended Rep. Benson for the advancements made thus far, emphasizing the project’s potential to become the premier link road in Ikorodu division.
He highlighted the transformative impact the road is poised to have, particularly in alleviating traffic congestion and improving overall connectivity within the region.
Oyefusi also explained the advantages of the project, noting its significance in enhancing transportation efficiency and facilitating smoother commutes for residents and commuters alike.
Reiterating that the project’s success is not only a priority but a shared responsibility, as it holds the promise of benefiting every individual within the community, Hon. Oyefusi emphasized the unity of purpose among community members, affirming that residents are collectively committed to ensuring the timely completion of the construction project.
Comrade Samson Bisiriyu told Ikorodu News Network (INN) the significance of coming together to express gratitude for Representative Benson’s steadfast commitment to improving infrastructure within the community.
He said that the meeting also aimed to provide stakeholders with comprehensive updates on the state of the project, recognizing its expansive scope covering over 50 communities within the region.
Furthermore, Comrade Bisiriyu stated the anticipated benefits of the completed road construction project, noting its potential to mitigate water flooding during the rainy season, enhance road access, and elevate the standard of living for residents.
Hon. Babayemisi Fakunmoji, 1st Vice Chairman of Ikorodu North Community Development Committee (CDC), Joint CDA Chairman of Ward E2 Erikorodo, and CDA Chairman of Lapega, Ilado CDA Parafa, Alagemo, voiced resounding support for Representative Benson during the stakeholders engagement.
He hailed Benson’s track record of impactful interventions, particularly in the realm of infrastructure development, which has significantly benefited both indigenous and non-indigenous residents of the area.
Reflecting on past skepticism regarding road construction projects, Fakunmoji commended Representative Benson for defying expectations and spearheading transformative initiatives.
He cited examples such as the revitalization of Adaraloye-Alashe road at the police barracks and the recent flagoff of the Eruwen road construction project as tangible evidence of Benson’s commitment to community welfare.
Expressing admiration for Benson’s leadership efficacy, Fakunmoji asserted that the Representative has consistently met and exceeded expectations, positioning him as a formidable candidate for the governorship of Lagos State.
He urged fellow community members to rally behind Benson’s candidacy, citing his proven dedication to advancing the collective interests of residents.
Prominent figures including Mr. Taiwo Bello Isikalu, Baale Oluomo Mukaila Balogun, among others, were present to lend their voices in appreciation of Representative Benson’s dedication to community development.
