In a bid to address the crisis in Okuama community, Delta State, the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Babajimi Benson, held a crucial meeting with the Governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on April 24, 2024.
The meeting, which took place at the Government House in Asaba, aimed to find lasting solutions to the unrest plaguing the region.
Governor Oborevwori explained the importance of collaboration between the state government and federal authorities in tackling the Okuama crisis.
He welcomed the House Committee’s fact-finding mission and expressed his commitment to supporting their initiatives in ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens affected by the crisis.
“With a shared mutual interest in the Okuama crisis, today I received in audience the House of Representatives Committee on Defence in Government House, Asaba led by its Chairman, Hon. Babajimi Benson,” Governor Oborevwori stated.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Babajimi Benson, reiterated the committee’s commitment to conducting thorough investigations into the root causes of the crisis.
He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the committee’s proceedings, assuring the Governor of Delta State of their dedication to ensuring justice for all affected parties.
“As one of the key and strategic committees of the House, the Chairman noted that the House would conduct investigative public hearings to ensure transparency. I assured the committee of my support of their initiatives,” Governor Oborevwori affirmed.
