
Today, amidst a gathering of distinguished guests, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, presided over the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the construction of the Legislative Chamber at the Council Secretariat.
Attended by prominent figures including Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Babatunde Rotinwa, former Lagos State head of service chairman, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun APC party chairman in Ikorodu LGA, and stakeholders, signifies a monumental milestone in the annals of Ikorodu Local Government.
The event was highly magnified by the presence of Ikorodu Federal Lawmaker Rep. Babajimi Benson MHR, who headlined the ceremony as the chief host for the day.
Welcoming the attendees, Hon. Wasiu Adesina stated the significance of the ceremony, citing that it heralds the commencement of the construction of a befitting Legislative Chamber, asserting that the development is long overdue, as it aims to provide a conducive environment for legislators to carry out their duties effectively.
According to Adesina, “The envisioned Legislative Chamber will comprise 10 spacious and well-equipped offices, a legislative chamber, conference hall, and an open gallery, designed to enhance productivity and efficiency in legislative activities”.
Hon. Adesina expressed profound gratitude to Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, for his unwavering support and encouragement, He also commended the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, RT Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, for his immense support towards this project.
Special recognition was accorded by the council boss to Rep. Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, who graced the occasion as the special guest of honour.
Acknowledgment was also extended to Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, the member representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, for his relentless efforts in ensuring the realization of this project.
