On the 1st of May 2024, a historic event unfolded as the Government Teacher Training College, Ikorodu (Old Students’ Association) marked its inaugural mass reunion party at the Government Technical College (GTC).

Established in 1975 with a vision to nurture and mold students into pillars of society, the occasion served as a nexus for former students to rekindle friendships, reminisce on cherished memories, and strategize on reviving the educational ethos of yesteryears.

As echoes of laughter and camaraderie filled the air, it became evident that the legacy of this esteemed institution continues to inspire and unite generations of alumni in their pursuit of excellence and service to humanity.

Mr. Olabode Adekunle Enitan, a distinguished alum, expressed profound gratitude to the dedicated educators who imparted knowledge during their academic journey.

He extended heartfelt appreciation to all attendees, including the revered former principal, R. A. Sholaja.

Emphasizing the institution’s pivotal role in shaping character and intellect, Mr. Enitan highlighted Government Teacher Training College, Ikorodu, as a beacon among its counterparts, urging members to reach out to those yet to be contacted.

Mr. Taiwo Salami expressed sentiments of reconnection and progress, underscoring the significance of the first mass reunion in fostering a sense of community and shared heritage.

He envisioned the Old Students’ Association as a catalyst for positive change, advocating for initiatives centered on compassion and altruism.

Moreover, Mr. Salami explained the diverse array of professionals nurtured by the institution, attesting to the transformative power of Teacher Training College education.

“Today’s event celebrates our collective identity and underscores our responsibility to impact the society positively,” remarked by planning committee member, Mr. Samson Adedayo Oluwajunwon, encapsulating the spirit of camaraderie that permeated the gathering.

Beyond nostalgic reverie, attendees were treated to informative sessions addressing health concerns.

Dr. Bayode Vincent offered consultations on hypertension and diabetes, empowering members with knowledge on preventive measures and lifestyle choices.

The interactive lectures illuminated the symptoms and causative factors of these prevalent diseases, advocating for proactive healthcare practices within the community.

The event boasted a distinguished guest list, including Mr. Ogunkoya Anthony Adewale, Principal of Government Technical College, alongside esteemed professionals Dr. Benson Enikuomehin, Dr. Olaoluwa Omole, and Mr. Marcaus Alli, who lent their support to the celebratory occasion.
