Babajimi Benson, Member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, has officially opened a new market in Igbalu, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The project was facilitated in partnership with the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA).

The newly commissioned market features 40 key clamp stalls and is equipped with solar street lighting, enhancing both functionality and security.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by representatives of Rep. Babajimi Benson, including Engr. Mutiu Shobowale, Princess Abisoye Oredoyin, NEPZA representative Architect Oladimeji Oyegoke, and various community stakeholders.

Engr. Shobowale highlighted that the market is a significant contribution by Hon. Babajimi Benson aimed at spurring economic growth in the locality.

He emphasized its role in enhancing food security and mitigating the adverse effects of suburbanization.

According to Shobowale, the market will act as a centralized hub for the trading of local produce, empowering farmers and ensuring a steady supply of fresh, nutritious food for the community.

Architect Oladimeji from NEPZA encouraged market vendors to utilize the new facilities effectively to foster economic and socio-economic development within the community.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the market and urged stakeholders to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.

“The new market is expected to play a pivotal role in the economic landscape of Imota, providing a structured venue for commerce and contributing to the overall well-being of the local population” Oladimeji asserted.
