LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF AYUBU BASHORUN STREET IN IJEDE LCDA ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

On May 28, 2024, the Lagos State Government, through the Office of Rural Development, successfully flagged off the construction of Ayubu Bashorun Street in Ilupeju, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, detailed the scope and significance of the project during the ceremony.

The construction project, awarded to Messrs. SVV International Investments Limited, is set to last for 12 months. The road will span 1,300 meters in length and 8.0 meters in width, significantly enhancing the infrastructure within the Ijede LCDA.

With a specification of Length: 1,300 meters and Width: 8.0 meters, The initial phase of the project involves clearing the site of trees, weeds, and shrubs, followed by excavation work.

The Project Scope includes Construction of Drains and Culverts: Drains (0.75m x 0.75m), Outfall drain (1.0m x 1.0m), Culverts (0.75m x 0.75m), Earthworks and Wearing with a Course to Provide; spread, and compact fill materials, Provide, spread, and compact 150mm all-in-aggregate base course material; Provide and lay a 50.00mm thick asphaltic concrete wearing course plus Lane marking

During his remarks, Dr. Agbaje emphasized the project’s importance in boosting the local infrastructure and aligning with the state government’s commitment to rural development and improving the quality of life for Lagosians. He urged the contractor to adhere strictly to the project timeline and maintain high-quality standards to ensure the project’s timely and satisfactory completion.

Furthermore, Dr. Agbaje called on the community to support the project by cooperating with the contractors and protecting the infrastructure upon completion. He reiterated the government’s dedication to the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus development agenda, which aims to create a greater Lagos through strategic infrastructural projects like this one.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by notable guests, including Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (AMA), representing Ikorodu Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly; Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development; Engr. Dankuwo from the Technical Department of the Ministry; as well as leaders and stakeholders from Ijede LCDA.
