
Commemorating the Children’s Day 2024, the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) organized the Olori Kudirat Abosede Mini Marathon in collaboration with WAW Kiddies & Event.
The event aimed not only to celebrate the annual observance but also to showcase the talents of primary school students across the Ikorodu Division.
The mini marathon took place at the Local Government Education Authority Secretariat on May 27, 2024, drawing participants from various primary schools in the region.
Students eagerly participated in the competition, showcasing their athletic abilities and camaraderie.
The event garnered significant attention and support from notable dignitaries, including the esteemed HRM Oba Dr. Adeoriyomi Abdul Hakeem Obateru of Egbin kingdom, Hon. Oshodi Oluwasegun, representing Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, a member of the House of Assembly.
Additionally, Mrs. Adebisi S. A Hos, representing social mobilization in Ikorodu LGEA, along with Mrs. Adebanjo Tokunbo, Mrs. Ajidahun Risikat, Mrs. Odusanya Mosunmola, and other respected individuals graced the occasion with their presence.
The mini marathon not only provided a platform for students to exhibit their athletic prowess but also served as an avenue for nurturing talent and promoting physical activity among the youth.
It underscored the importance of holistic education, emphasizing not only academic excellence but also the development of skills and talents outside the classroom.
As the Olori Kudirat Abosede Mini Marathon kicked off with enthusiasm and excitement, Mr. Amusa Afolabi, Secretary of the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), took a moment to express heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all involved, particularly HRM Oba Dr. Adeoriyomi Abdul Hakeem and Olori Kudirat Abosede.
In his address, Mr. Afolabi extended his sincere thanks to HRM Oba Dr. Adeoriyomi Abdul Hakeem for gracing the occasion with his esteemed presence, acknowledging the honor bestowed upon the event by his attendance.
He also expressed profound gratitude to Olori Kudirat Abosede for her unwavering support towards the program, highlighting her significant contributions since assuming her role.
“Since Olori Kudirat Abosede has come on board, she has been exceptionally good to us, offering unwavering support,” Mr. Afolabi remarked.
“And now, we are hosting this mini marathon on her behalf to express our deep appreciation for her.”
Mr. Afolabi did not overlook the crucial role played by other sponsors whose support brought smiles to the faces of the participating pupils.
He commended their generosity and underscored the importance of such initiatives in nurturing and showcasing the talents of the youth.
“We salute all our sponsors for their invaluable support, which has given these children the opportunity to discover and showcase their talents,” he emphasized.

“We must love our children as God has entrusted them to us,” he said passionately.
“As we celebrate them today, let us remember that children are the flowers from heaven, and it is our duty to nurture and protect them.”

Mr. Fapohunda Samson Kayode, the dedicated coordinator of the marathon, took a moment to express his heartfelt appreciation towards Olori Kudirat Abosede and Mr. Amusa Afolabi for their unwavering support towards the children’s program, which has brought immense joy to the participating children.
In a statement filled with gratitude and admiration, Mr. Fapohunda commended Olori Kudirat Abosede and Mr. Amusa Afolabi for their invaluable contributions towards the success of the program.
“I really give kudos to my boss for all he has been doing,” Mr. Fapohunda stated, expressing admiration for Mr. Afolabi’s proactive approach in reviving programs that had previously been halted.
“All the programs that have been put to a stop, Mr. Afolabi has brought them back, bringing renewed attention and recognition to the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority (LGEA).”

“I give praise to you teachers for the great job you are doing,” Oba Adeoriyomi remarked, his words filled with admiration for the pivotal role played by educators in shaping the lives and futures of the pupils.
