The event, which took place on May 29, 2024, saw an enthusiastic turnout from residents and stakeholders, celebrating the council chairman’s commitment to fulfilling his promise.

The commencement ceremony was led by Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, who also recently flagged off the construction of Solomade Adekaiyaoja road construction.

Speaking to the guests and residents before the flagoff, Adesina explained that the dividends of democracy extend beyond welfare packages to tangible infrastructural projects that benefit both residents and visitors.

He announced that the road construction is expected to be completed in three months and urged residents to cooperate with contractors to ensure timely completion.

“Residents in Eleshin axis of Ikorodu Local Government should get ready as the road leading to the Baale’s palace is our next destination for road construction,” Adesina hinted

The construction of Sanni Arowolo Road marks a pivotal moment for Itunpate and the broader Ikorodu division, promising enhanced infrastructure and economic growth for the community.

Hon. Wasiu Shotomiwa, Councillor representing Ikorodu Local Government’s Ward D, praised Adesina’s administration for its widespread impact across all wards in Ikorodu Central.

“If you go across all our wards, there must be an accomplished project executed by our amiable chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina. He has not left any ward without impact so far,” Shotomiwa stated.

He highlighted the significance of the Sanni Arowolo street construction as a historic development for the entire Ikorodu division.

Mr. Bolade Arogunre, Chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA) for Arowolo Sanni Street, expressed profound gratitude to the council chairman.

“Words cannot express our level of appreciation to the chairman for making this project possible. All we have to say is thank you Sir!,” Arogunre said.

Prominent figures in attendance included Chiefs representing the Ayangbure-in-Council, esteemed Ikorodu Central leader Alhaji DCubano, Mr. Sunday Oladipo DPO Sagamu Road, Prince O. Power DPO Igbogbo Road, Secretary of the Council Alhaji Lateef Afinni, Super for Budget and Revenue Alhaji Lateef Oyefusi, APC Woman Leader Alhaja Rashidat Bello, and the WADESH BABES. He noted that the new road would significantly boost commercial activities in the area.

During the event, Adesina also responded to residents’ requests regarding Dada Road, adjacent to Sanni Arowolo Street.

He instructed council engineers to measure the link road for potential future construction, further elevating the community’s excitement.

Adesina appealed to residents to fulfill their civic responsibilities by paying their levies, which would enable the council to execute more developmental projects.

The highlight of the program was the official flag-off by former Lagos State Head of Service Commission Chairman, Alhaji Babatunde Rotinwa.

Rotinwa commended Adesina’s dedication to infrastructural development and urged residents to support the council by paying their radio and TV levies.
