Poised to bolster agricultural productivity, the Lagos State Office of Rural Development has unveiled plans to rehabilitate the Community Agric Centre in Isheri Berger.
This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to enhancing local agricultural infrastructure and supporting rural development.
The announcement was made by Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, during his on the spot assessment to the facility on June 5, 2024.
Dr. Agbaje stated the dire condition of the centre and the urgent need for its restoration. “The rehabilitation of the Community Agric Centre is a crucial part of our strategy to make local agriculture more productive and sustainable,” he stated.
According to Dr. Agbaje, the rehabilitation project is an integral component of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s broader agenda to revitalize the agricultural sector across Lagos State.
The initiative is expected to not only revitalize the centre but also create a ripple effect on the community’s economy.
“By equipping farmers with the necessary resources and knowledge, the project aims to increase crop yields, enhance food security, and create job opportunities within the agricultural sector”.
“This proactive step by the Lagos State government demonstrates its dedication to fostering rural development and underscores the importance of agriculture in driving economic prosperity” Dr Agbaje asserted.
