
Marking Nigeria’s Democracy Day, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, called on Nigerians to honour the memory of the nation’s democratic heroes.
According to the council chairman, June 12th is recognized as Democracy Day and serves as a reminder of the struggles and sacrifices made by those who fought for the democratic freedoms enjoyed today.
“June 12 is a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of our heroes who fought for the democracy we celebrate today,” Adesina stated.
Emphasizing the legacy left behind by these brave individuals, he added, “Our heroes have bequeathed a ‘banner without stain.’ Let’s all tread this path in truth and fairness so that ‘our flag shall be a symbol that truth and justice reign.'”
Adesina further extended his congratulations to the people of Ikorodu, Lagos, and the entire nation.
“Happy Democracy Day, good people of Ikorodu! Happy Democracy Day, Lagosians! Happy Democracy Day, Nigerians!” he expressed, urging citizens to uphold the values of truth, justice, and fairness in their daily lives.
