As the Muslim community in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) comes together to celebrate Eid al-Adha, Builder Adeola Adebisi Banjo, the Executive Chairman, has extended his heartfelt wishes to all Islamic brothers and sisters.
In his message, Banjo underscored the significance of Eid al-Adha, known as the “Feast of Sacrifice,” which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and devotion.
“I extend my heartfelt wishes to each and every one of you. This significant occasion, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith, reminds us of the virtues of sacrifice, generosity, and compassion,” said Banjo.
He prayed for Allah’s blessings upon the community, hoping that the acts of Ibadah (worship) would be accepted and that everyone would enjoy long lives filled with Allah’s copious blessings.
Banjo emphasized the importance of sharing with the needy, reflecting the spirit of sacrifice that defines Eid al-Adha. “May Allah’s divine grace enable everyone to reap bountifully the blessings that come with the sacrifices of giving to the needy”.
“As we enjoy the blessings of this Eid al-Adha celebration, let us not relent in keeping our beloved nation in our thoughts and prayers,” he added.
Highlighting the unique identity of Ikorodu North LCDA as the “Tower of Resources,” Banjo drew parallels between the festival’s emphasis on sacrifice and the LCDA’s collective strength and resourcefulness.
“Together, we can transform challenges into opportunities, ensuring that our community thrives in unity and prosperity,” he noted.
Banjo also urged the community to uphold the third pillar of Islam, Zakat (almsgiving or charity), especially during these challenging economic times.
He encouraged extending generosity and compassion beyond the Eid celebration, fostering a supportive and caring community.
“Let us also spread kindness to everyone and share with love. I encourage you to continue upholding the third pillar of Islam, Zakat, which is especially needed in these challenging economic times for the vulnerable among us,” he stated.
Citing a Hadith by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Banjo reminded the community of the importance of benefiting others: “The best among you are those who bring the greatest benefits to others” (Hadith – Al-Mu’jam al-Awsat).
