
Ikorodu Student Association proudly hosted its first-ever Student Summit on June 12, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the history of student engagement and community development in Ikorodu.
Held at Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat Hall, opposite Ikorodu General Hospital, the event was themed “Future of Ikorodu; Unleashing Potentials, Shaping Tomorrow.”
The summit was designed to foster academic excellence, grassroots collaboration, and leadership among the youth of Ikorodu.
Activities included panel sessions, business pitches, and the launch of the first union anthem in Ikorodu.
Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, served as the Chief Host and delivered an inspiring opening address.
The summit featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Emmanuel Agida, ECOWAS Youth Ambassador; Moremi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement; Hon. Samuel Soyiga, Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State Youth Parliament; Mr. Azeez Lamina, CEO of Waves Media; and Bukola Jaiyeola, Executive Director of Next Big Deal.
Special guests included Hon. Toyin Aremu, Senior Special Assistant on Transportation to the Governor of Lagos State; Rt. Hon. Maria Soniregun, Speaker of the Lagos Youth Parliament; and Dr. Fanimokun Oladipo, Executive Director of Nigeria Children Cultural Heritage, among other distinguished attendees.
The summit underscored the administration’s mantra, “Changing the Status Quo, For A Greater Ikorodu,” emphasizing a commitment to unlocking the potentials of young people and shaping a brighter future for the community.
The event was a resounding success, showcasing the talents and aspirations of Ikorodu’s students and setting a new standard for student-led initiatives in the region.
