FADUGBA OGUNLEWE ROYAL FAMILY OF IGBOGBO SET TO MARK THE 76TH & 50TH REMEMBRANCE ANNIVERSARY OF IGBOGBO’S FIRST EDUCATED INDIGENE, PRINCE AMOS OLUGBUSI OGUNLEWE, FIRST ADEBORUWA OF IGBOGBO, OBA MOLAJA OGUNLEWE ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Fadugba-Ogunlewe Royal Family of Igbogbo, Lagos State, is set to commemorate the 76th and 50th remembrance anniversaries of two of their most illustrious patriarchs, the late Prince Amos Olugbosi Ogunlewe and his younger brother, Oba Festus Molaja Ogunlewe.

These commemorations honour the enduring legacies of Igbogbo’s first educated indigene and the first Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, respectively.

Late Oba Molaja Ogunlewe, who reigned from 1940 to 1974, was the first educated monarch in the entire Lagos Colony, earning him the nickname “Oba Alakowe.” His contributions to education and governance are fondly remembered, and he is the father of several notable children, including retired Lagos State Head of Service Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe.

Similarly, late Prince Amos Olugbosi Ogunlewe, the first educated indigene of Igbogbo, is celebrated for his pioneering role in education and is the father of former Minister for Works and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe.

Despite their passing decades ago, the impacts of their leadership in human and infrastructural development continue to resonate within the Igbogbo community. The family’s decision to celebrate their legacies reflects the enduring respect and admiration they command.

To officially commence the commemorative events, representatives of the Fadugba-Ogunlewe Royal Family paid a royal courtesy visit to the current Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, and the Adeboruwa-in-Council on Saturday, June 15th. This visit was to formally notify the monarch of the upcoming events.

In a significant move to immortalize the two great icons of Igbogbo, the family will lay the foundation for the construction of a twin hostel facility at the Lagos State Civil Service Model College, Igbogbo, on Friday, June 28th. The ceremony will be led by Dr. Akinola Ogunlewe, head of the Fadugba-Ogunlewe Royal Family, along with other prominent family members.

The project includes a 100-bed dormitory named after Prince Amos Olugbosi Ogunlewe and another 100-bed dormitory named after Oba Festus Molaja Ogunlewe.

Following the foundation-laying ceremony, the family will observe a Special Commemorative Jumat Service at the Igbogbo Central Mosque under the spiritual leadership of Chief Imam Dhikrullah Andu.

The family will then gather at the Oba Festus Molaja Ogunlewe House, adjacent to the Adeboruwa Palace, for a Special Commemorative Remembrance Service and Reception.

The commemorative events will culminate with a Special Commemorative Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, June 30th, at the United African Methodist Church, Igbogbo, a church that the Fadugba-Ogunlewe Family helped to establish.

Prominent family members expected to attend the events include Dr. Akinola Ogunlewe, Prince Gbadebo Ogunlewe, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, and Dr. Jaiyeola Ogunlewe, among many other esteemed members of the Fadugba-Ogunlewe lineage.
