
Ikorodu, July 1, 2024 – The grand unveiling of the Lara Narrow Way Education Foundation, established in memory of Omolara Risikat Sobajo, took place at Oriwu Model College Ikorodu, her alma mater.
The event showcased the vision and mission of Mrs. Sobajo, highlighting her dedication to education before her passing.
The foundation aims to guide and illuminate the educational paths of students and schools, ensuring wisdom and mentorship are ever-present.
The ceremony attracted numerous distinguished community leaders, including former Lagos Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, GAC Member, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Hon. Fatai Olukoga, Former Special Adviser on Education in Lagos, Hon. Ogunbela, Former Chairman, Ikorodu North, Dr. Saheed Ibikunle, Permanent Board Member, Basic Education, Mrs. Iyabo Elusakin, Principal, Oriwu Model College Ikorodu, Dr. Muritala Seriki, Lagos APC Youth Leader, Lagos State, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Chairman, Ikorodu LGA, and Bldr. Daini Olusesan, IgbogboBaiyeku LCDA council chairman.
Bldr. Adeola Banjo, Ikorodu North Council Boss, expressed deep gratitude to all attendees. “It is a privilege having you all on this occasion, my distinguished leaders, colleagues, students, councilors, principals, and other notable guests,” he stated.
Bldr. Banjo emphasized that the “Wisdom on Wall” project is a cornerstone initiative of the Lara Narrow Way Foundation, established to honor his late mother, Mrs. Omolara Sobajo.
He shared that before her passing, she had envisioned the creation of an educational foundation to continue her legacy.
Launching the project at Oriwu Model College, where Mrs. Sobajo completed her secondary education in 1968 and holds significant sentimental value.
The “Wisdom on Wall” initiative features inspirational speeches by prominent individuals, designed to mentor and guide students beyond the classroom.
Bldr. Banjo stressed the importance of holistic guidance, urging students to pursue their education with vigour during their youth to secure a promising future.
Dr. Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, Permanent Board Member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, lauded the foundation’s efforts to inspire and motivate students.
He called on other foundations and corporate bodies to support similar initiatives that promote hard work and contribute to enhancing educational standards.
Dr. Ibikunle emphasized that dedication and effort are crucial for achieving success, citing a poem by Joseph Folahan Odunjo to illustrate his point.
In an interview with INN, Dr. Fatai Olukoga, Former Special Adviser on Education in Lagos State, praised the Lara Narrow Way Education Foundation for its significant contribution to the education sector.
He highlighted the motivational impact of the “Wisdom on Wall” project and encouraged students to integrate the inspirational messages into their daily lives and education, aiming for greater success and meaningful strides in their academic and future careers.
Mrs. Iyabo Elusakin, Principal of Oriwu Senior Model College, expressed gratitude for the foundation’s initiative, stating, “It is a privilege, and we do not take it for granted, This initiative will greatly benefit the students in their learning.”
She emphasized the positive impact the foundation will have on the students, enhancing their educational experiences and providing valuable resources for their academic growth.
The event also featured a motivational address by Mr. Oluwu Babatunde Fatigua, CEO of the Wale Omole Foundation for Virtue and Ethics in Yoruba Culture.
Mr. Fatigua engaged the students with an inspiring message, encouraging them to remain dedicated to their pursuits for success. His speech resonated deeply, emphasizing the value of hard work and the pursuit of excellence.
