PMAN PRESIDENT PRETTY OKAFOR HOSTS ITALIAN-BASED NIGERIAN ARTIST JAHONZE, OUTLINES SUPPORT PLANS FOR LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

On Friday, July 12, 2024, the President of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Pretty Okafor, welcomed the Italian-based Nigerian artist, Jahonze, to the PMAN House National Headquarters at Chevyview Estate, Lekki, Lagos.

During the meeting, Okafor outlined PMAN’s plans to assist music artists both locally and internationally.

Pretty Okafor highlighted the importance for artists across Nigeria to register as members of PMAN.

He emphasized that PMAN’s status as a registered trade union offers numerous advantages that can significantly support the careers of Nigerian artists.

“For a registration fee of 6,000 naira, artists can benefit from a range of services, including legal assistance, insurance coverage, career guidance, and support for international tours,” he remarked.

Okafor further emphasized that PMAN’s current initiatives are designed not only to integrate emerging acts into the music industry but also to empower veteran musicians in Nigeria.

He discussed the association’s strategic move to establish a presence across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, noting that construction of the Abuja office is already underway.

Additionally, Pretty Okafor mentioned that PMAN has launched a state-of-the-art radio station in Lagos.

“Although it is currently operating online pending license verification, the radio station aims to further support and promote Nigerian music artists” Okafor asserted.

Overall, the meeting which concluded with the President taking the Artist and his entourage on a tour round the headquarter’s facility demonstrated PMAN’s commitment to fostering a supportive and empowering environment for Nigerian musicians, both at home and abroad.
