Aimed at improving local governance and economic stability, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, has announced that all markets within Ikorodu Central (LGA) will be officially registered under Ikorodu Local Government.
This announcement was made during the tree planting program on the 14th of July, 2024.
During the event, Hon. Adesina explained the importance of this initiative as part of a broader effort to create a comprehensive market database.
“The registration of all markets is crucial for maintaining order and ensuring that our local economy thrives,” Adesina stated.
“This database will help us monitor market activities, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide better support to our traders.”
“Furthermore, the initiative aims to bring about multiple benefits, including enhanced regulatory oversight, improved support for market traders, and a more organized local economy.”
“By establishing a detailed database of all markets, the local government intends to streamline operations, prevent illegal activities, and promote a fair trading environment.”
Hon. Adesina also detailed that this measure would address issues related to market space allocation, sanitation, and security.
“With accurate data on market activities and traders, the local government can more effectively plan and implement policies that benefit the entire community,” Adesina added.
The registration process will be conducted in phases, and market traders and stakeholders have been urged to cooperate fully.
The local government will provide guidelines and support to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process.
