WORLD YOUTH DAY: LEKAN BILIAMIN-OBA OPPOSES RECYCLING TO ENSURE TRAINING BENEFITS UNEMPOWERED YOUTH ~ INN Nigeria ☆

On Monday, July 15, 2024, former state chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Olalekan Billiamin-Oba, emphasized the importance of non-recycling youth training programs to ensure the unempowered benefit.

This statement was made to Ikorodu News Network (INN) during a skill acquisition training program organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ikorodu central branch in celebration of World Youth Day.

Billiamin-Oba, in the interview, explained that training programs should not permit those who have already acquired specific skills to enlist in new ones.

He argued that this practice can lead to individuals becoming “jacks of all trades and masters of none.”

He stressed the need for focus and mastery in a chosen field, suggesting that once a youth or student has gained a particular skill set, they should seek opportunities to excel in that area rather than participating in multiple training programs.

“Without a sustainable approach, the effectiveness of youth training initiatives and the need to tailor them for lasting empowerment and career growth will not be achieved.”

“In all, this training program reflects the National Youth Council of Nigeria’s commitment to youth development and the strategic importance of targeted skill acquisition,” Biliamin-Oba asserted.
