COUNCIL BOSS, WASIU ADESINA FLAG-OFF CONSTRUCTION OF TAYO AJAYI 320M DRAINAGE AND 160M ROAD IN IKORODU ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina has announced the commencement of a major infrastructure project on Tayo Ajayi Close, Sabo.

This project involves the construction of a 320-meter two-sided drainage system and road aimed at improving the area’s economic value and connectivity.

Situated near the Ikorodu cemetery and the boundary point between Ikorodu Local Government and Ikorodu North LCDA, the new road and drainage system will address significant infrastructural needs in the area.

The council engineer, Mr. Oladapo Oluseye provided technical details, noting that while the road itself measures 160 meters, the drainage system totals 320 meters with dimensions of 600 by 600 millimetres.

“The chairman has decided to construct this road based on its economic value and connections to other roads in the area,” Mr. Oluseye stated.

He further highlighted that the project, scheduled for completion in 12 weeks, would also include the installation of street lights to enhance safety and visibility.

“The Lagos State approach is you do the drainage, you do the road,” Mr. Oluseye added, emphasizing the holistic nature of the development.

Hon. Shokunbi Idris Olaniyi, the Councillor representing Ward-A, praised Hon. Adesina for focusing on the Agbala community axis, predicting that the new road would stimulate productive activities and improve the residents’ quality of life.

During his address, Hon. Adesina outlined his administration’s commitment to comprehensive infrastructure development across the local government.

“The construction of this two-sided drainage, which spans 320 meters on Muhammed Ajayi Close, Sabo, will be the first phase of work in this area.

Future phases will include the rehabilitation of roads behind the cemetery and on the left side of the cemetery.

Additionally, the street will be equipped with solar-powered street lights to deter street urchins,” he said.

Hon. Adesina also announced plans to extend similar drainage projects to other areas within the local government, including Ita-Elewa, Itundegun, Ajina, Itunmaja, and Obun-Ale He urged residents of Tayo Ajayi Close to cooperate with contractors to ensure the timely and quality completion of the projects.

Kazeem Olokunola, the Baale of the Agbala community, expressed gratitude to the council chairman for initiating the project.

He noted that it would alleviate the residents’ hardships, enhance mobility, and fulfil campaign promises.

Olokunola also urged aspiring leaders to emulate Hon. Adesina’s proactive and community-focused leadership style.

“I thank the chairman for addressing our challenges and fulfilling his campaign promises,” Olokunola said.

Vice-Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Aarebirin Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba echoed the positive sentiments, stating that the new road would make a significant difference for residents of the Ward A Agbala community, ensuring durability and enjoyment for the inhabitants.

“With the active participation of the community and the diligent efforts of the local government, the construction of Muhammed Ajayi drainage and road is poised to bring much-needed development and improvement to the area” Folashade-Oba stated.
