
The children of the late HRM Oba Salaudeen Afolabi Oyefusi, Oguntade II, celebrated the 10th anniversary of his passing with a charitable event at his Royal Castle of Mercy (palace) on the 31st of july 2024.
Over 300 community members attended to receive packages of essential items, including Garri, Yam, Golden morn, Beans, and so on, demonstrating the enduring legacy of Oba Oyefusi’s commitment to his people.
The event was graced by the presence of notable figures, including Prince Afolabi Oyefusi, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi, Mr. Odubitan Abolaji (CDC Chairman of Lowa), as well as representatives from various community groups such as the CDA, widows, single parents, and the elderly.
The support initiative is part of a week-long program designed to honour the life and legacy of Oba Oyefusi, featuring a range of activities aimed at uplifting and supporting the community, embodying the values that the late Oba cherished.
Prince Afolabi Oyefusi, the first son of the late Oba Oyefusi, honours the 10th anniversary of his father’s passing unveiling series of community-centric events.
Prince Afolabi Oyefusi emphasized the significance of the events, explaining their father’s profound impact on the community.
“We think we owe him this celebration to honour his achievements and his memory on this 10th anniversary.”
He accentuated the event, which starts with a food bank, would be followed by a medical outreach to provide essential health services to the community, which will be held the following day.
“The series of these events are meticulously planned to culminate on Friday, the exact date marking ten years since Oba Oyefusi’s passing” he stated.
Prince Afolabi detailed the late Oba Oyefusi’s attributes, encouraging everyone to embody the values of being friendly and helping each other as much as one can.
“My father was a peaceful man, and we should strive to continue his legacy of tolerance and friendliness.”
Mr. Odubitan Bolaji Abiola, the CDC Chairman of Lowa, praised the children of the late Oba Oyefusi for preserving their father’s enduring legacy of generosity and care.
He commended them for organizing a community event that reflects the values and actions upheld by Oba Oyefusi throughout his life.”
“With this token given to the members of the community, especially the poorest, they will truly appreciate it. It goes a long way. They will appreciate it because they have been blessed.”
“The blessings received today will be extended through prayers for the departed, and Baba will be remembered for good today.” Mr Odubitan said
Mr. Taiwo Adelabu Ogido, a beneficiary of the food distribution program, expressed his gratitude and joy at the event “I came here through our Community Development Association (CDA) in the Lowa community.”
Mr. Ogido emphasized the significance of the food distribution program in the current economic climate in Nigeria accentuating that the food item will save their money and reduce their expenses.
He also extended his blessings to the family of the late King Oyefusi of Ikorodu, acknowledging their support for the community. “May God bless the family of our late king Oyefusi of Ikorodu,” he said.
Mrs. Temitope Sholarin, a native of Ikorodu, expressed profound gratitude to the children of the late Oba Oyefusi for their contributions to the community.
Mrs. Sholarin, a beneficiary of the program, emphasized the significant impact the Oyefusi family has had on Ikorodu, both during and after the reign of Oba Salaudeen Afolabi Oyefusi.
She reminisced about the peaceful and harmonious environment that characterized Ikorodu under the late Oba’s leadership, noting that “everything was so okay” during his time.
Mrs. Sholarin lauded the Oyefusi children for continuing their father’s legacy of community service and support. “I appreciate the children of Oba Oyefusi for what they have done on behalf of their late father,” she stated.
She concluded her words with a heartfelt prayer for the Oyefusi family, asking for divine blessings and prosperity.
“I pray for them that may God Almighty bless them and uphold their household. Whatever they lay their hands upon, may it prosper in His mighty name,” she declared.
