REP. BABAJIMI BENSON HOSTS THIRD QUARTER TOWN HALL MEETING TO ENHANCE COMMUNITY RELATIONS IN IKORODU ~ INN Nigeria ☆

On August 10, 2024, Rep. Babajimi  Benson, Member of the House of Representatives (MHR) representing Ikorodu, held his Third Quarter Town Hall Meeting with key stakeholders, including the Community Development Council (CDC), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ikorodu chapter, Muslim leaders, and youth groups from across the Ikorodu Division.

The town hall meeting was a key engagement, reinforcing the strong relationship between the representatives and the community while setting the stage for further development and empowerment in Ikorodu Division.

Held at his Constituency Office on Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, the event was attended by notable figures such as Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro, Member of the House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency II; Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, Chairman of Ijede LCDA; and Bldr. Sesan Daini, Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

Other attendees included Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, DG of iCare Foundation; Sheikh Olowooribi, Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division; and Rev Ojo, Chairman of the CAN Association, among others.

Stakeholders from various parts of the Ikorodu Division were also present, including representatives from Ikorodu Local Government Area, Ikorodu North LCDA, Imota LCDA, Ijede LCDA, Ikorodu West LCDA, and Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

Speaking on the purpose of the gathering, Rep. Benson expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Ikorodu Division for their overwhelming support of his leadership.

He acknowledged the significant role their support has played in the government’s ongoing efforts in the division, emphasizing that these efforts are a direct result of the community’s commitment.

Shedding light on his various infrastructural initiatives, he said, “The government is doing all this for Ikorodu Division because we delivered full-time during the election,” highlighting the importance of the division’s contribution

Rep. Benson declared that a new empowerment initiative is on the horizon for Ikorodu Division, which will enhance the well-being of the community and provide opportunities for growth and development, benefitting every resident in the division

He also took the opportunity to commend the people of Ikorodu for their restraint in not participating in recent protests that have taken place across Nigeria.

He reassured them that their patience and loyalty would not go unrewarded, promising that numerous empowerment programs are in the pipeline for the division.

He concluded his speech by urging the residents to remain patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reiterating that the current government is committed to delivering on its promises and improving the lives of the people in Ikorodu Division.

Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba Chairman Ijede LCDA expressed deep appreciation towards Rep. Benson in her brief remarks.

Motunrayo emphasized that the long-awaited construction of the Abule Eko to Eruowa road will commence soon, a project that Rep. Benson is set to officially flag off.

Furthermore, She noted that the road has been a significant challenge for the people of Ijede, causing prolonged inconvenience. However, with Rep. Benson’s intervention, a solution, is now in sight.

Lastly, She took the opportunity to thank Rep. Benson for his consistent engagement with the community.

She praised his willingness to maintain open lines of communication and his dedication to finding solutions to the issues facing his constituents.

Bldr. Sesan Daini, Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, also commended Rep.  Benson, noting that the federal lawmaker consistently sets a high standard for leadership within the community.

“Rep. Benson exemplifies the very essence of what it means to be a good leader,” Daini remarked. “His leadership approach inspires and motivates us to strive for betterment for our people.”

Daini highlighted that Rep. Benson often says, “You are not a good leader when you see enemies among the people you are leading.” This powerful statement serves as a reminder that leadership is about inclusivity and understanding, not division.

Additionally, Bldr. Daini expressed deep appreciation for Rep. Babajimi Benson’s humility and accessibility—qualities have endeared him to the community. He noted that despite Benson’s high position, he remains approachable and prioritizes staying connected with the people he represents.

Sharing the same sentiments, the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Ikorodu, Prince Adeniran Ogunbawo, gave kudos to Rep. Benson, for his continued support and contributions to the Ikorodu community.

Prince Ogunbawo expressed his gratitude to the Local Government and Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairmen, as well as religious leaders within Ikorodu Division, for their dedication to the welfare and progress of the community.

In his speech, Prince Ogunbawo also commended the residents of Ikorodu for their restraint and peaceful conduct during recent times, particularly for not participating in protests that could have disrupted the peace in the area.

Additionally, Prince Ogunbawo took the opportunity to implore Rep. Benson to prioritize the completion of several ongoing road construction projects in Ikorodu Division.

He highlighted critical roads that require urgent attention, including the Igbogbo Baiyeku Road, Isawo Road, and the Igbe to Ginti Road, all of which have been under construction for an extended period.

Evangelist Adetunji Shonaike, speaking on behalf of the Ward Chairman of Ikorodu Division at the town hall meeting, offered prayers for Rep. Babajimi Benson, recognizing the significant impact of his ongoing projects in the region.

Shonaike explained that Rep. Benson’s numerous initiatives have greatly benefited the residents of Ikorodu Division and commended him for his tireless efforts.

He also expressed deep appreciation for the national legislator’s commitment to party members, noting that Benson has not forgotten those who supported him in his role at the House of Representatives.

The event further served to strengthen the bonds within Ikorodu region, laying a solid foundation for continued support and development.
