The Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club has embarked on a new youth empowerment initiative aimed at equipping local youth with essential skills.
On the 15th of August 2024, the club officially enrolled two young individuals at Atorise Barber Salon, located in the Federal Low-Cost Estate Shopping Plaza, Ikorodu, as part of their commitment to fostering economic independence and skill development among the youth.
This project, which will span a duration of two weeks, offers hands-on training in barbershop operations and grooming techniques.
The selected youths will receive comprehensive instruction under the guidance of experienced barbers, covering everything from hair cutting to customer service, according to Lion Olukayode Aluko, the club’s Service Project Chairperson.
The course is designed to provide them with the foundational skills needed to either secure employment in the industry or establish their own barbering businesses.
The initiative by Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club aligns with their broader mission of community service and development.
Lion David Akinosho, charter president of the club, explained that by providing these young individuals with vocational training, the club aims to address unemployment and encourage self-sufficiency within the community.
“The project’s launch at the Atorise Barber Salon is just the beginning, as the club plans to expand similar opportunities to more youths in the near future.”
