A total of 1,200 farmers from the Lagos East Senatorial District have received fertilizers distributed by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to enhance food production and improve food security in Nigeria.
The Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda on food security aims to lower the cost of food and increase the nation’s capacity for local food production.
Speaking at the distribution event in Ikorodu on Tuesday, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, represented by former Lagos State House of Assembly member Hon. (Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola praised the initiative.
He noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is actively working to reduce hunger and alleviate hardship nationwide.
Senator Abiru further mentioned that this fertilizer distribution is part of broader support he has facilitated for farmers in the district, including the provision of farm inputs like fertilizers, seedlings, and herbicides to over 300 crop farmers, as well as fully vaccinated chickens, feeds, and cages to more than 100 livestock farmers in the Senatorial District.
Dr. Hakeem Adetugbobo, who coordinates agricultural empowerment efforts for Senator Abiru, also commended President Tinubu for his robust support for farmers in Nigeria.
He expressed optimism that ongoing interventions will address food insecurity under President Tinubu’s leadership.
Waheed Olaide Kareem, a beneficiary from Lekki LCDA, expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for the food security programme and praised Senator Abiru’s leadership.
Mrs. Folake Olaide, an executive member of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Eredo LCDA, stated that members who received similar support from Senator Abiru are thriving in their agricultural endeavors.
