The Lagos State Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving power infrastructure across rural areas, garnering praise from communities that have benefited from its electrification projects.

On September 13th, 2024, through the Office of Rural Development, three additional transformers were distributed to communities within the Lagos Central axis, furthering the state’s agenda for rural electrification.

The first transformer was delivered to Ajowa CDA on Fred Ayam Street, Adelabu Road, Surulere. Abule-Oja Community Development Area in Yaba LCDA was the second recipient, followed by Odoshiwola Community in Eredo LCDA.

The transformers are expected to significantly improve power supply, which in turn will boost economic activities and improve the quality of life for residents in these areas.

Expressing their gratitude, community stakeholders and residents commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his dedication to enhancing the state’s power infrastructure.

They also extended their appreciation to Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, for his leadership in overseeing the implementation of the rural electrification initiative.

Many remarked that the electrification program has had a transformative impact on numerous communities across Lagos State.

This recent distribution follows a similar effort just a few days earlier, where transformers were allocated to Valley View Estate in Olu-Odo, Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA; Oguntade-Oloja Community in Odogunyan; as well as two other communities in Erikorodo, Ikorodu North LCDA, and Imota LCDA.

Speaking further on the initiative, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development explained “These communities, like their counterparts in the Central axis, are expected to experience improved power supply, which will facilitate greater economic activity and overall community development”.

“The state government’s ongoing investment in rural electrification has not only alleviated longstanding power challenges in these areas but also sparked optimism for further development and progress.”

“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration continues to prioritize initiatives that strengthen Lagos State’s infrastructure, ensuring that both urban and rural communities benefit from improved services.”

As the electrification program expands, more communities are expected to benefit, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and development across Lagos State.
