In a bold move to modernize education and prepare students for the digital age, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina has announced plans to equip all 16 primary schools in the local government area with computer units.

This initiative according to the chairman, is part of his administration’s ongoing commitment to fostering digital literacy and providing students with vital Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills, preparing them for the challenges of a competitive global workforce.

Hon. Adesina made this significant announcement on September 17, 2024, during a program where he distributed free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to 100 students and presented essential instructional materials to the 16 primary schools in Ikorodu Local Government.

Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Hon. Adesina emphasized the importance of ICT education in today’s world: “In this digital era, equipping our children with ICT skills is no longer a luxury but a necessity.”

“Our administration is committed to ensuring that our students are not left behind. Providing computers to all primary schools in Ikorodu will lay the foundation for a tech-savvy generation capable of thriving in a digital future.”

He further explained that the computer units would help students develop basic technological skills at an early age, fostering digital literacy that would be crucial for their academic and professional futures.

“These children will be exposed to the basics of computing, coding, and the use of digital resources, which will ultimately help them compete on a global scale,” Hon. Adesina added.
