LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT COMPLETES MAJOR REHABILITATION OF RURAL WATER SCHEMES, ENHANCING ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, conducted an extensive inspection of several recently rehabilitated water scheme projects throughout rural areas on the 19th of September 2024.

These initiatives, carried out under the Lagos State Government’s Office of Rural Development, have reached successful completion and are now fully operational.

The inspection highlighted significant progress in three key areas:

In Ifesowapo C.D.A, located in Oko Olosha within Ikorodu West LCDA, the Modified Type ‘A’ Water Scheme has undergone thorough rehabilitation.

This upgrade is expected to significantly improve the quality and reliability of water available to residents in this community, which has previously struggled with limited access to clean water.

Similarly, the water scheme in Musade, Ori Okuta, also within Ikorodu West LCDA, was meticulously rehabilitated.

In addition to the primary scheme, an additional project on a nearby street was completed, further extending the benefits of this vital infrastructure to a broader area.

These enhancements are anticipated to greatly alleviate the challenges faced by local residents in obtaining treated water.

The Flourish C.D.A in Gberigbe, Ikorodu Local Government, also received substantial upgrades to its Modified Type ‘A’ Water Scheme.

This project is expected to provide a much-needed boost in the availability of clean and safe water for the community, addressing previous deficiencies and improving overall quality of life.

Dr. Agbaje emphasized that the successful completion of these projects marks a significant milestone in the Lagos State Government’s efforts to improve rural infrastructure.

He praised the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment to advancing water infrastructure across Lagos State.

“The rehabilitation of these water schemes not only demonstrates a dedication to addressing the needs of underserved communities but also represents a critical step in advancing rural development and ensuring equitable access to essential resources.”

“The Lagos State Government remains committed to enhancing public services and infrastructure, reflecting its broader vision of creating a more inclusive and equitable society.”

“The completion of these water schemes is a testament to the government’s ongoing efforts to make tangible improvements in the lives of rural residents, providing them with the necessary resources to thrive,” Dr Agbaje said.
