
The commissioning of a newly constructed block of classrooms at Gbágà Community Junior High School, Olorunda, on Monday, 23rd September 2024, marked a significant milestone for the community.
The event drew prominent figures from across Ikorodu North LCDA, including esteemed royal fathers such as High Chiefs Olubowale Ayotunde, Baale of Igbaga Ogun Akin; Olanipekun Musiliu Adeshina, Baale of Igbaga Olorunda; Musafau Akinyemi, Baale of Igbaga Akinyemi; Jimoh Odofin, Baale of Igbaga Odofin; and Adebola, Baale of Mojoda Araromi.
Community leaders and members, including Comrade Saanu Kazeem, Secretary of the Ogunakin family, Engr. Salako, Joint CDA Chairman, and representatives of the CDC Ikorodu North LCDA joined the celebration alongside school staff and students.
Leading the local government officials was the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Adeola Adebisi Banjọ, accompanied by Vice Chairman Hon. Al-Ameen Apanisile, Secretary to the Local Government Prince Niyi Odugbesi, Supervisor for Education Hon. Mathew Adesanya, and Council Leader Hon. Ayo Abiodun Adekoya, among others.
The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Hon. Mathew Adesanya, followed by remarks from Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, principal of Gbágà Community Junior High School, who expressed deep gratitude for the support behind the project.
Otunba Kajero, speaking on behalf of the School Management Committee, emphasized the importance of the new classrooms in expanding educational opportunities for the community’s children.
In his keynote address, Builder Banjọ highlighted that the new classrooms represent more than just physical infrastructure—they symbolize hope for Gbágà and its neighboring communities.
He reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots educational development and announced a monthly stipend for the school’s staff until the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) takes over.
He also appealed to the community to donate at least four additional plots of land to support the school’s expansion, in line with the council’s educational vision.
The community expressed their gratitude by presenting photo portraits to the council chairman and councillors. The event was further enlivened by a vibrant march-past and cultural performance from the students.
Baale Olubowale John, Chairman of the CDA and Joint CDA, commended the council’s efforts while highlighting the need for more classrooms to reduce overcrowding. His appeal for further development was well received by the audience.
The event concluded with the formal commissioning of the block of three classrooms, an office, and sanitation facilities.

A mathematics lecture held in one of the new classrooms symbolized the immediate benefit of the completed project.
This project, a testament to Builder Banjọ’s leadership and dedication to education, has opened a new chapter for Gbágà Community Junior High School, promising enhanced learning opportunities for the children of Olorunda and surrounding areas.
