The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, has commended the ongoing construction work on Solomade Road, with particular emphasis on the implementation of an effective drainage system that promises to alleviate flooding issues in the community during the rainy season.
Hon. Adesina inspected the project on the 26th of September 2024 and expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far.
He detailed the importance of the drainage infrastructure alongside the road construction, emphasizing that it is a critical component to protect residents and properties from potential flood hazards.
“The contractors have structured an effective bypass drainage system as they work on the road,” Adesina noted during his inspection.

“This drainage link will be invaluable in the long run, especially during periods of excessive rainfall. It will help prevent the buildup of water that could otherwise cause flooding in the surrounding areas.”
Adesina’s visit to the site demonstrated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and addressing key challenges faced by the Ikorodu community, particularly in enhancing road networks and managing seasonal flooding.
The Solomade Road project, which is part of the local government’s broader efforts to improve transportation and reduce environmental risks, has been welcomed by residents.
The drainage system, which runs parallel to the new road, is designed to channel excess rainwater away from residential areas and into designated outlets, preventing the kind of waterlogging that has historically plagued the area.
Adesina expressed optimism about the project’s timeline, stating that the work is progressing steadily and will soon be completed to the benefit of all residents.

He reiterated his administration’s dedication to ensuring that key infrastructure projects like this are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
“The drainage system, which is designed to withstand heavy rainfall, is expected to have a lasting impact on the community, helping to mitigate the risk of flooding during future rainy seasons” Adesina added.
