IKORODU NORTH LCDA CONDUCTS FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH AT NEWLY BUILT PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE IN AKANUN, PROVIDING VITAL HEALTHCARE SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The people of Akanun and its surrounding areas benefited from a free medical outreach program organized by Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on the 27th of September 2024.

The event, held at the newly constructed Primary Health Centre in Akanun, provided free medical checkups and distributed essential medications to attendees.

This outreach exemplified the council’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access for the local population.

The program was organized to mark the assessment of the newly built health facility and to offer immediate medical support to community members.

Hundreds of residents turned out for the outreach, which offered a range of health services, including blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings, general medical consultations, and access to medications, free of charge.

The outreach was graced by several dignitaries, including prominent traditional leaders and community elders.

Among the traditional chiefs present were the Baale of Akanun Lasugbo, Chief Sesan Ogunleye Aleshinloye, who led other Baales from nearby communities.

Also in attendance were Chief Mopelufa Wasiu Kara, Chief Adamo Bankole, Chief Mushafau from Gbaga Akinyemi, and Chief Kehinde Efunaike, the Olotu of Akanun Lasugbo.

Joining them were notable figures like Alhaji Wahab Ganiu, the Asiwaju of Akanun Lasugbo, alongside other respected community leaders.

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Adeola Adebisi Banjo, led the initiative. He was accompanied by key council members, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ola Ameen Apanisile, and Prince Niyi Odugbesi, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG).

Also present were Hon. Basirat Babatunde, the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), alongside the Supervisors for Works and Health.

A delegation of local councillors, including Hon. Niran Adeyemi, Hon. Sheriff Olakanmi, Hon. Abimbola Adaramola, and Hon. Baliqis Aderoju showed their support, along with the council’s Medical Officer of Health (MOH) and heads of various administrative units, including those for Environment and Information.

In his keynote address, Builder Adeola Banjo highlighted the critical role of the new Primary Health Centre in addressing the healthcare needs of the Akaun community.

He described the facility as a strategic intervention to bridge healthcare gaps for residents who had long struggled to access adequate medical services.

Banjo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the well-being of the people through continuous healthcare initiatives, such as the free medical outreach.

Following the Chairman’s address, Chief Sesan Ogunleye Aleshinloye, the Baale of Akanun Lasugbo, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the council’s efforts.

He praised Builder Adeola Banjo and his team for their focus on community health and urged for more development projects in Akanun.

Chief Ogunleye called for further collaboration between the government and traditional leaders to ensure sustained progress for the community.

Representing the community development associations, Comrade Babatunde Adekoya, Coordinator of the Joint Action Committee for 22 CDAs, also commended the LCDA’s leadership.

He applauded the council for prioritizing healthcare and community development, noting that the Primary Health Centre would make a lasting impact on the lives of Akanun residents.

The free medical outreach stands as a testament to the Ikorodu North LCDA’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
